Russia’s Rosneft to get 55% in Brazil’s Solimoes for $55 mln
MOSCOW, May 18 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Rosneft has acquired a 55% stake and has got a status of operator of the Solimoes block in Brazil for U.S. $55 million, the company said in a statement Monday.
Rosneft received a 45% stake in the Brazilian block earlier, when purchasing another Russian oil company TNK-BP.
“The amount of the deals stood at $55 million, they do not include acquisition of four mobile drilling rigs owned by HRT Netherlands. The decision to remove this purchase from the framework of this deal was made by Rosneft Brazil after analyzing scenarios of effective development of Solimoes,” the company said.
The deal may be closed in June–July 2015, after a clearance by Brazil’s ANP, or Agencia Nacional do Petroleo, Gas Natural e Biocombustiveis, according to the statement.
The Solimoes block is divided into 16 fields with potential resources standing at 717 million barrels of oil equivalent. Potential oil resources stand at 1,005 million barrels and gas ones at 800 million barrels of oil equivalent.
